Dr. Russell A. Pointer, Sr. was born on August 24th 1964 to George and Elizabeth Pointer, and he is the fourth of five children. He is a native of the Bronx, New York.

Dr. Pointer was called by the Great God above to preach His word at the age of 11.

He was brought up in the Harlem Church of Christ under the mentorship of his spiritual father, the Late Dr. R.C.Wells, Minister Emeritus, and he has also spent time in Montclair, New Jersey where the Late Bro. Howard Johnson was the minister. It was apparent that God's hand was upon the ministry of this man, even at the age of 11. He has traveled from East to West and from North to South to spread God's Word. He has preached nationally and internationally. He served a five-year term as an IRB Board Member at Meharry Medical College located in Nashville, Tennessee.

Dr. Russell A. Pointer Sr. stepped out on faith to build and fill a void in a new location of God's work in the Antioch, Tennessee area in 1998. At this location, only eight members were present to help him begin this work. Since starting the ministry in that area, the congregation increased from two homes, to two storefronts, and to one new edifice that accommodated seating for over 500 persons.

This "Man of God" has taken the "Church beyond the realm by providing a vision to evangelize, enlighten, embrace, encourage, equip, empower and exalt the people of God."
